School Consultation

School Consultation Services

For schools looking to maximize services for students with social-emotional, developmental, and/or behavioral challenges, The Kelberman Center provides on-site specialists to work directly with individual students, educators, classrooms, and/or entire special education departments, depending on the needs of the school. Together, we assess needs and enhance programming through a range of evidence-based practices.

Classroom/Program Needs Assessment & Goal Development

Oftentimes, a classroom needs assessment is requested at the start of services to better gauge the needs in a specific classroom setting. Over the course of 2-4 weeks, a range of domains are assessed, including Professional Knowledge, Environmental Structure and Classroom Organization, Classroom Engagement and Program Planning, Assessment Measures, Behavior Management, Student Communication Skills, and Classroom Communication. Once completed, the program group meets to review the results, define immediate and future goals, and develop a plan of action to be implemented collaboratively as a team.

Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA)

To best understand the needs of a student exhibiting consistent behavioral issues in the classroom, a functional behavior assessment is conducted, utilizing a range of measures, including: teacher/parent interviews, rating scales, and extensive observations across scenarios presenting with various individuals and settings.

Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) Development & Implementation Support

Upon completion of the FBA, results are reviewed with relevant providers and caregivers, and behavior intervention plans are discussed. Ongoing supports are provided to support data collection and the intervention implementation process.

Individualized Student Skills Assessment & Educational Design

For students resistant to traditional classroom curricula, a skills assessment can be conducted to better sort through a student’s repertoire of abilities across a range of domains. After all assessment information is gathered and reviewed with the education team, a program summary is completed and an individualized curriculum is defined. Ongoing supports would be provided to support data collection and teaching methods.
