Kelberman Center New York State Autism Training 

The Kelberman Center now offers New York State Education Department Approved Autism Trainings. This New York State Education Department certified training meets the new requirements for certified teachers and administrators in New York State and is designed to instruct professionals, i.e., special educators, administrators and clinical staff who assist in the treatment and educational process for those diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders. The Kelberman Center provides regional educational opportunities for professionals, families and individuals on the autism spectrum.  As the recognized leader of training opportunities on autism spectrum disorder in the Central New York region, the Kelberman Center is able to attract national experts to the Mohawk Valley.

The Kelberman Center Speaker Series

The Speaker Series offers community education on topics related to Autism Spectrum Disorder.  National speakers address the audience of individuals, families and professionals on topics relevant to the disorder.  Previous speakers have lectured on food aversions, peer play, language and communication and diagnosis and consultation.  Hosted at Upstate Cerebral Palsy Armory Campus in Utica, New York, the Speaker Series is held in the evening throughout the year.  Attendance at the Speaker Series is free and open to the public.  Child care is provided. The Kelberman Center Autism Institute

The annual Kelberman Center Autism Institute provides professional development training for educators, parents and service providers in the northeast.  Nationally recognized experts in the field of Autism Spectrum Disorders present on a variety of topics relevant to the education, social development, vocational development and medical needs of children and adults with a diagnosis of autism or autism spectrum disorders.  Target audiences for the Autism Institute are professional service providers, physicians, disgnosticians, educators, parents and others interested in topics related to autism.  Please click here for information on our current Autism Institute.

In keeping with its mission, the Kelberman Center offers a variety of professional education and training opportunities for educators, clinicians, health professionals, human service personnel, and the community at large.  In addition to the evening speaker series and the annual Autism Institute, the Kelberman Center offers individually designed trainings and in-service programs on topics related to Autism Spectrum Disorders. 

Professional education and training topics include:

  • Visual Strategies for Students with ASD

  • Developing Functional Behavior Assessments
  • Effective Transition Planning for Children with Autism
  • Communication and Collaboration for Families, Schools, and Communities

Each topic can be offered as a stand-alone 60 - 90 minute presentation or can be combined with other modules to create a series of trainings or a full-day training.  All presenters are clinical and education specialists who are affiliated with the Kelberman Center for Autism Services.
