*New Program Starting January 2012* - Kelberman Center's College Coaching

Individuals diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome and High Functioning Autism commonly experience impairments in executive functioning which often leads to less than optimal performance as these individuals enter the college environment. College coaching, a process by which students learn organizational, goal setting, planning, task initiation, and problem solving skills, is an effective method of addressing impairments in executive functioning.

The Kelberman Center College Coaching program offers local college students with Autism Spectrum Disorders intensive college coaching services in the group and individual setting.

Kelberman Center Girls' Group

The Kelberman Center's Girls' Group program is an 8-week therapeutic group designed to assist adolescent girls, ages 12 to 15 diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome, in learning strategies to manage issues that they face during their adolescent years.  As a group, the girls will explore topics including body image, self-esteem, puberty, personal hygiene, decision-making, time-management, bullying, depression, stress, and relationships with parents and peers. The program will provide girls the opportunity to openly discuss these issues in a safe, supportive, and structured environment in which difference is embraced and celebrated. Girls will be asked to attend to and participate in group discussion for a 1 hour period of time and will be expected to complete assignments related to group content between sessions.
